That York Master is a mighty fine instrument! Thanks for your input!
Yes it is... But I can't wait to play one of these Kanstuls with the .750 valves to see how well it compares. If it has the better bottom end I think will have with the bigger valves and close to the same high end that the proto-type I tried had, then it will be a really great horn!

Hope to see you at the Kanstul booth at the NAMM Show again this year Howard.

This just in, the Grand 5/4 tubas fit exactly into the SKB 5/4 case. Still getting those.hieght, width and front to back thickness from Charles, busy day today, new spring loaded paddles for the F tuba(main tuning slide) paddle mounts on top between first and third! More surprises to come that I can" t talk about yet!

Still waiting on those size demensions, the bell is about a half foot to a foot taller than the 4/4 just by best guess. Will relay more info as it becomes available, more Kanstul photos on my Facebook page, just search Howard Miyata.

And here are some pics of the tuning trigger now included with the Kanstul F tuba. This is the F below. I don't have any pics of a CC with a trigger...yet. Personally, I didn't think the Grand CC needed a trigger, but now that it's available, vanity may say otherwise.

Gorgeous!
I retract my statement at the beginning of the thread. This is an 11/8 horn. :P
I sure hope there's an example for me to play at TMEA. I'd really like to give that beast a honk or two.

This is the one off, and the one with the two piece bell. Not the production one.

How different from the current model Kanstul 5/4 BBb will the new 5/4 BBb be?

What are the differences, if any?

Will they offer it in both 5 valve and 4 valve versions?

Thanks,

Any chance this tuning widget will be made available for purchase for those of us that might want to install it on other horns?
Is it 'double sprung' so that you can adjust both sharp and flat notes?

Can't wait for the NAMM show. FYI, the T bar is on the Main tuning slide and the Thumb paddle is an alternate 5 th valve throw for the left hand!

:) We don't want to distract from the current wave of tuba enthusiasm with a discussion about cimbassi. It's a separate project that we'll be taking a closer look at in a few months. Thanks for understanding.

Just spent four days with Grand 5/4 CC and BBb tubas, as well as the new 5/4 F that made it's world premiere at the NAMM Show. Also John Van Houghten, Beth Mitchell were there as well as cameo appearances by Jim Self and Charles Dallenbach and Wycliffe Gordon. Having trouble posting pictures to the list, so please look at my Facebook page Howard Miyata for pix! Maybe Charles Hargett or Steve Ferguson will post pix soon!

First image Cc second image BBb third image new 5/4 F tuba.
BBb grand has tune any note feature -- production tuba will have a 2 way spring loaded throw that will recenter preset position so you can either raise or sower pitch . f tubas 3/4 and 5/4 will have the same mechanism but with a T- bar on the 3/4 or a spring loaded slide with ring on the 5/4. The CC really doesn't need the spring loaded slide, but we will probably put in on anyway just so they don't feel left out.
