**Savannah, my six year old daughter, got a Razor scooter from her mother. Not being a "girlie girl," the first thing she did was have me remove the streamers from the handlebars. Since snow and ice prevented her from riding it outside much (she did try,) she spent the better part of the day riding it around her house between the kitchen, dining room, and large living room. Still burned more calories and developed more motor skills than any video game related item.

Re: Update Update
For Christmas, I bought the kids a Kinect for their XBox. It really does work and is nothing short of amazing - you stand in front of the cameras, it maps your entire body, and YOU are the controller. This takes the concept started by the Wii to a whole new level. Hopefully, this is the next step in getting video game kids off the couch and more physically active.

I've figured out the purpose of this thread.

Nobody ever thought of having a thread to do that before!?
What this IS, however is the TubeNet/BBS equivalent of Tweets. Refudiate that!!

Re: Update Update
Actually, I think the thread started primarily to bust the chops of a certain self proclaimed shaman, who was posting many seemingly inconsequential updates on the main board. However, as with many things on the web, it grew beyond its original intentions and took on a life of its own. (The same could possibly be said of Sergent Chisham's Tube Net.)Brucom wrote:I've figured out the purpose of this thread.

Re: Update Update
It snowed all day today. It is still snowing. It is expected to stop sometime tomorrow, late morning or early afternoon. When all is said and done, there will be well over a foot of snow on the ground. Luckily, I'm off this week.

Re: Update Update
Forged through snow (and over the river and through the woods) to my mom's and then hers. Her sister and family were snowed in, so I went to retrieve them in my 4wd truck. All had a wonderful time and the impromptu family band played some thrown together arrangements for Gramma. Three flutes, a clarinet, two trumpets, a euphonium, and a cello. Good food, great fellowship, and safe travels back home.

Re: Update Update
Our Christmas travels weren't so challenging (the rain/snow waited until we'd arrived back home) and our impromptu concert wasn't as well staffed (clarinet, trumpet and tuba) but the celebration was Merry, and I had more laughter this Christmas visit than any other.
Oh, and a week of rain is forecast...and I'm working.

Not much moving near Philly. And not so much the snow, but the continuing wind.
Emergency CO² all released. Still no warmer.
Thought I saw a polar bear swim by, but it could have been a salt truck.

All bases covered! Maybe it should be known as "ABC."bloke wrote:oh...
...and I just learned that (since it ain't workin' out so well, etc.) the term "man-made global warming" has officially been substituted (and I just learned this from one of those microscopic audience kook-news channels - not remembering whether the channel name starts with a "C" or an "M") with the term "man-made climate chaos".
Good! Now no matter what happens climate-wise (as long as it is chaotic) it is the fault of mankind.

Just cooked up a mess of bacon from Benton's (Madisonville, TN) which according to "Southern Living" magazine is the best they ever tasted. It was a gift from my father-in-law. Mmmm...

Re: Update Update
Good grief, if you watch the news in New York, you'd think the world was ending from all of the snow we got. Gee... maybe it's *not* a good idea to go outside in a blizzard. And gee, maybe it'll take a few days to get things back on track.
I know some people got stuck in it, and that really sucks. But some people are just dummies and complainers.

Re: Update Update
I think there's an all-too-fuzzy line between "cancel everything, oh no there's snow!" and "ignore the snow, do everything now! Why can't I do everythung now!?" New Yorkers tend to have a reputation about being stubborn asses and overly ambitious. Sometimes that is good, and leads to lots of progress in a short time. But sometimes, it backfires!
Ok, enough of that, I feel better...

If that wasn't your New Year's resolution for 2014 we'd be a lot more impressed!
