Ouch... my ribs still hurt today from falling while ice skating on Saturday (I went straight into a short wall). No bruising, no persistent sharp pains... but definitely still hurts. I would make a lousy hockey player.

Went to the Dr. and got xrays this afternoon.Will find out the results tomorrow, likely a fractured rib. Maybe a few days off from tuba, but it doesn't hurt *too* much. It'll heal on its own in a couple of weeks.

Started overhauling a clarinet today, removed all pads and cork, cleaned it and began the corking the tenon joints.

First one - not so good. Second try - a little better, would work for the barrel, but not for any of the other joints. Moved on to the middle section - MUCH BETTER, I used the thicker 1/16 as opposed to the 3/64, much better fit.

Maybe you should take a page out of Joe's book and get yourself a wife to do that WW stuff.

Had a lecture on bottom sprung pistons valves and learned that the 2xJ series was marketed as a professional instrument in the catalogs....

Conn-Selmer currently lists their King 1140 (three piston, top-action) tuba as a professional instrument! Go figure!
