Just finished some leftovers from last nights corned beef, cabbage, boiled potatoes, and blackeyed peas. ... complete with some Polish mustard. I'll save my New Years drink of Jameson until later this evening. No community band tonight. But... 'Bend in the River Brass Band' resumes Wednesday evening. We'll be breaking out the NABBA Contest music. Life is good! :tuba:

Yeah, wasn't really expecting the Huskers to win, but I like to think they put up a decent fight.

As a bona fide College Football junkie, I have watched almost every bowl game this year (missed the Pointsettia Bowl because of a concert), and I have to say hands down, THE WORST rendition of the National Anthem was today's by the Stanford Band. Totally sucked. As much as I admire their absolute wackiness, this was just bad. Should have had the Wisconsin Band perform it. You have been updated, kinda.

My computer is making rebellious noises at me. Every time I type in 2012 the software, company supplied, asks me, with accompanying audio, if I am sure I want that date. This is almost as irritating as correcting date errors.

I spent about 1.5 hours in a line today due to a cancelled flight (scheduled to return to the US after a fantastic vacation visiting family in Germany and friends in Portugal). First, KLM suggested that I could board a plane in 12 hours, fly to Paris, stay the night in the airport, and fly to Seattle for another 10 hour layover, then fly to Eugene. After I (politely, I thought) said "no" I was able to rebook an almost identical flight home that leaves tomorrow. 10 hours flight time, and only a short layover in Amsterdam and slightly longer in Seattle. So, alas, I must spend another day in Germany.

You could alternatively assume that their prices are so low, they are by agreement with the manufacturer forbidden to publish them.

It worked so well for Bloke that I tried his theory about working two hours and surfing The Web for an hour then returning to work.

It was OK but I went back to my old method of working one hour and surfing The Web for four hours before returning to work.

Works much better for me!

It's official, as of Fall 2013 I will be an associate professor of business at Lebanon Valley College in Pennsylvania. Still looking for a community band or 2 to join in the area. It looks like there is one in Lebanon, PA, but they look like they have a lot of tubas already. At least now I will be close enough to drive to the Army Band Conference. :)
