No, Even if you COULD "BAN" them (and you can't). Who cares? There are enough bad-sounding wannabe tubas out there that aren't f'glass. The best thing you can do is encourage good sound.

There are enough bad-sounding wannabe tubas out there that aren't f'glass. The best thing you can do is encourage good sound.
Couldn't agree more. Isn't the whole point of musicianship that it's all about the player, not the equipment?

If it were all about the player, we could all buy the cheapest tuba we could find, and if it looked cool, we would all be happy. I don't believe it is all about the player.

If it were all about the player, we could all buy the cheapest tuba we could find, and if it looked cool, we would all be happy. I don't believe it is all about the player.
The better the player, the more carefully the player will be able to, and will choose the right tool for the job, whether tuba playing, cabinet making, writing, or any other vocation.

Some modicum of tailoring also facilitates the player, even if it's just care in choosing an appropriate mouthpiece on one end of the spectrum, or the stratosphere of Saville Row level ergonomic fitting on the other.
