Actually, York #3 is in a Hollywood studio prop department. If you can track down a Sanford and Son episode where Lamont comes home with a tuba and Fred asks him what he's going to do with it, Lamont says he doesn't know and Fred plops a potted plant in it. Yup, that is York #3. I don't know who started the rumor about the Japanese collector, just start watching Sanford and Son re-runs, you'll see it. Needed a shine, too.

I always thought that York #3 was in an old Three Stooges short - Curley blows into and the sound comes out five seconds later. They were living in a junkyard, maybe that was the set they used 40 years later for Fred Sanford.

Wow, what a crowd!
According to my limited research;
York CC tubas, original, not cut or augmented;
6/4 - 2 - location, Chicago, IL, USA
5/4 and 4/4 (long-or short-body, based on long-or short-body BBb) -up to
20, of which I've located about 14 in various parts of the US, New Zealand, Germany and England. I think there is also one in Japan. The short-body instrument was the basic model for the Getzen G50/CB50. I would tend to also classify the long-body instrument as a 4/4, as it is very similar in size to the old King 2341, but some argue that it is the 5/4, as it is larger overall than the G50-sized one, which is definitely not a 3/4 instrument. The long-body instrument was the basis for the new PT-606, and Yamaha is reportedly working on a copy of the model 692 York CC.
York #3? I would use that designator for all of the copies that have emanated from the original two. Even Kalison has an impressive York model now.

I Love You Joe.
To anybody out there, this is the biggest B.S. post in the world. There is no York #3 in existence. Really there isn't it, at least that's what the collector in Bangledesh told me when I tracked him down yesterday. Of course he could still be bitter over the Strad I sold him that I found in a pawn shop in Vegas. Hey, a hundred bucks is a hundred bucks....He did have a suspiciously large tuba last time I was there looking for clues to eternal life, but hey, a tuba is just a tuba, right?

Why else would that "Close Encounters" theme be played on a tuba?barry guerrero wrote:York 3 is stored in a deep underground bunker at Area 51. The government and the greys have been desperately attempting to reverse engineer it. A group of repairmen are flown out to Area 51 from L.V., daily, with the windows blacked out on the jet. The jet does have the Miraphone logo on it though.

I have York #3.
I found it on eBay about five months ago. Got it for $150.00--didn't have to worry about snipers, thank God for "Buy It Now!!"
I'll bring it to TubaChristmas this year. It's nice and all, but it ain't no YBB-321.
I'm thinking of cutting the horn down to a D tuba--great key for playing Rush and Guns 'N Roses covers. Anybody know a shop where I can get Axl Rose's face engraved above the York logo on the bell?

It was. Then they moved it to a warehouse, near where the Ark of the Covenant is kept.barry guerrero wrote:York 3 is stored in a deep underground bunker at Area 51. The government and the greys have been desperately attempting to reverse engineer it.
We have our "Top People" working on it.

Here's the real story-
York #3 was traded to the Indians for what is now Long Island.

No, Jimmy Hoffa has been playing it for the last 20 years. Then there is the Loch Ness monster, Big Foot, and a fair orchestral audition system. All myths.Is it a correct assumption that most of you think York#3 is bogus?
