I don't have wisdom teeth or a sinus infection. There is weather here. My nice niece is living with me and going to school. I had a concert last night and had fun playing my tuba. You have been updated.

Re: Update Update
You would lose easily 75% or more of the TubeNet members and inhibit the sign up of new ones. People expect forums to be free and will migrate to find other goofballs to have discussions. Which then would drive out sponsors as with less eyeballs viewing the sponsors will get far fewer customers and it wouldn't be worth the sponsor fees. I for one have probably done business with at least 40% of the sponsors so I'm not sure I'd be willing to fork over membership fees in addition when I'm already indirectly supporting by doing fairly substantial business with sponsors.TubaTinker wrote:If Sean charged everyone a membership fee to cover the costs of running this forum plus a few bucks for his trouble... maybe he could do away with the add promotions and make ends meet.tbn.al wrote:..... This certainly seems to be the current manner of dealing with such things.tofu wrote:

Re: Update Update
I'm not sure who is to blame for the tawdry ads regarding foreign ladies, but I have to admit I don't see them. I see ads related to what I've googled over the past few weeks like clothes, camera equipment , and computer gear. I also see the site-specific ads that rotate in the upper right corner of the page. Even more certain, clicking on an unseemly ad guarantees you'll see more.

Re: Update Update
These adds appear on the right side of the screen just below the login - logout button and extend downward a half page. They apparently have nothing to do with what you have googled because I don't even like to look at Asian women and appearing now is an add for a cell phone company I don't even use. I usually don't pay any attention to them however last week they were splashing over the entire screen until I removed them. Not good. This appears to be the only site I regularly visit on which they are a problem. When I clicked off here the add changed. Now it is Equifax credit monitoring.

Perhaps, in its wisdom, Google NOW thinks you may have a credit problem!

Re: Update Update
Google could be right. 5 trombones, a euphonium, a couple of trumpets and a tuba can put you there. Actually it is an add for monitoring, you know ID theft.windshieldbug wrote:tbn.al wrote:When I clicked off here the add changed. Now it is Equifax credit monitoring.

Re: Update Update
This is very true. As a TubeNet sponsor... I feel the small fee Sean charges to run my banner is just a fair way for me to pay for the 'entertainment factor' since I spend a lot of time here swapping ideas and just shooting the bull.tofu wrote:.... Re: Update Update
I spent some time this morning looking at a some king-size comforter sets and used Google in the process. The ads now show comforter sets. If you haven't clicked on any of the tawdry ads and they keep showing up, just do a google search for something innocuous, and stay at it for a while.

Re: Update Update
I too see the adds that relate to what I have googled. However I also see other adds that have no relationship whatsoever to what I've googled. It really makes no sense. Some of the adds appear to match up with things discussed on this forum, even posts I've made. I'm now looking at an Eqifax credit monitoring add which I've never referenced or googled. The other day I saw two adds in quick succession related to aging issues right after I had posted an age/health related comment. I think these adds show up relative to what you google, what is posted here and maybe some are just random.

Hey Joe, its "AL" not "LOG"
Anyway - the rescue horse living here is going fine and as he improves, gathering supporters offering to help out.
Somehow, here, we, including me, seem to keep forgetting that MUSIC, including tuba playing is all about communicating, 'connecting' and making things better.
As my grandfather told me when I was very young - a long time ago - "A kind hand yields better results than a whip".

Re: Update Update
After Wade's post about compressors yesterday I googled it and now I am seeing DeWalt compressor adds on my main yahoo page. I am not however seeing them on this site. Right now I am looking at an add for Road Kill t-shirts and just before that, online wedding dresses. Go figure! I give up. Gonna quit worrying about something I can't control.
