Wife: "How many tubas do you have?"
Me: "Should I count the trombone too?"

(when going out of town) "I'd LOVE to fly home early to go to your concert!"

Took some pictures and videos too, some of which I've posted here.

Am I a lucky guy, or what?

"The bass trombone sounded unusually rich tonight". After a concert where she sang and I played the bass trombone parts, and/or tuba parts, all on tuba. Guess she doesn't like blatty bass. She also mustn't look up from her music much.
I am fortunate to have a great job that feeds my family well, but music feeds my soul.

ooohhh... pretty! When did you get that one? Can't wait to hear you play it. When's the next concert where you'll be using it?

(Being a sax player.... she understands the need for multiple horns.)

No. Bail money was not in the wedding vows.

As one who plays both trumpet and tuba regularly, my wife (who has perfect pitch but does not play an instrument) has said...

"If you are going to play the trumpet, take it in the other room and use a mute. I hate the trumpet!"
"You can play the tuba anytime, wherever you want. It sounds nice."

And then recently when searching for a new home...

"This bonus room is HUGE. You can fit both pianos and all of your tubas and other instruments with soooo much room to spare. I like it!"

Of course, the bonus room sits away from the rest of "her" house.

Me: I miss having my tubas around

Spouse: I know...don't worry, when I'm finished with grad school and we are able you'll be getting 2 new horns : an F Tuba and a Big Tuba (a woman who knows VERY little about tubas).

When I was going to sell one of my older tubas recently that I rarely played my wife said:

"Don't sell that one, I think it's really cool and you won't ever find one like it."

It might be a little early for this, but my girlfriend got me a shirt that said "Real men play tubas."
