I did a little playing, for the first time, on a MW 25 tonight. From around C below staff on up, I was getting some powerful sound and projection. I'd say it was downright impressive. When getting down in the bottom notes, its power dropped off rapidly. I was reminded of a race tuned engine where there is relatively little torque at low RPM, but get the thing up in its power range and it really takes off. The paddle springs presented far more resistance than my 191 -- a ridiculous amount, I thought. I don't know what the motivation for that is. The weight of the horn felt significantly lighter than the 191. Overall, if somebody required that I play only that horn, I could probably live with it ... after letting some tension off those paddle springs.

Hey, it's a gig.

I suspect that anyone my age trying to record hip-hop will sound just as silly in another 40 years.

The guys behind this silliness were probably guys who started backing artists in the 30's. Their attempts at understanding the 60's aren't really any dumber than attempts at understanding the 60's by those too young to have experienced them.

Hey! I thought he was looking more dapper than usual... I don't remember seeing him without the pointy ears! I thought it was just a birth abnormality that worked out well for the 'Trek plot! :P

IMPORTANT UPDATE

I finished the backyard on the chicken coop at the kids school. complete with: dog door to keep the chickens in thier house at night, 1/4" square wire dug 8" down to discourage the racoons, and a lovely chicken wire top to keep the hawks away.

Update! Back from my vacation at Esalen. Only visited the bathing-suit-optional coed hot tubs once. Got lots of good exercise, ate lots of good food, got lots of good sleep. Didn't see any other tuba players there.

Nope!
I'm not even gonna ask.
More importantly- it may have been only once, but for how many days, and how much of a prune was she when she finally got out?
