Little more than some good valve oil?

Just by coincidence reading some old literature from down there, came across this passage on the matter:
Marcus Clarke wrote:A hot day. A very hot day on the plains. A very hot day up in the ranges, too. The Australian sun had got up suddenly with a savage swoop, as though he was angry at the still coolness of early morning, and was determined to drive the cattle, who were munching complacently in the long rich grass of the swamp, back up under the hill among the thick she-oaks. It seemed to be a settled thing on the part of the sun to get up hotter and hotter every morning. He even went down at night with a red face, as much as to say, "Take care, I shall be hotter than ever to-morrow!"

On a more serious note, she knows you're a tuba player, knows what she's getting into, and she still agreed to marry you? Definitely a keeper. Congratulations!

Last night on CNN there was a 2hr special about the band Chicago.

Worth a look if you get the chance.

I would not recommend CNN for any other viewing, however...

Eb fingerings at 90% now. Tempo matters for those I still have to think about....I don't get why people won't learn new clefs/fingerings (ex: brass band tuba parts.) You.Just.Do.It. .... maybe it's easier for me because I play by pitch. I think any competent musician should be able to play simple tunes in all keys by ear. Like, one of my favorites is Good King Wenceslas. Any Christmas carol.....major and minor keys, you think in sharps or flats, everything falls into place in time. I still occasionally am mashing a CC fingering on an Eb tuba, but it's getting to be less and less. A few are still pencilled in, but not many.
Happy New Year to All, even the TNFJ :)

You have been updated.

Ban Muslims from entry to the US until the Government figures it out.

Crude, sure.

But looky what happened;

House Readies a Bipartisan Press to Tighten Visa Waiver Program
Under the House bill, visitors from qualifying nations who have been in Syria and Iraq during the previous five years would not be able to participate in the waiver program. Other high-risk nations could also be added to the list and other restrictions and records checks would be imposed as well. The travel industry backs the measure.

A bipartisan group of senators led by Dianne Feinstein, Democrat of California, and Jeff Flake, Republican of Arizona, has introduced a bill that would impose more stringent new requirements, including additional fingerprinting. But there was a growing consensus on Monday that the Senate would be willing to accept the House measure to speed approval of the new restrictions.

Immigration is a very complicated subject. First, a lot of the job openings now require a specific skill set. Some of those unemployed folks are not able or willing to acquire those skills. Immigration policy can supply workers with those skills. Canada and Germany have immigration policies designed to give preference to people with specific skills. It is common to find taxi drivers in Canada with an MD degree and training. US immigration policy has been focused on family. Thus, you can get larger percentage of people who do not have skills needed to fill the jobs we have and thus add to the welfare roles. In the case of children, they are being educated in American schools and likely will have the skills needed in the future. That does not help now, but it does bode well for the future. The current temporary restrictions on travel are designed to minimize the chance that a terrorist will not enter the country. My hope is that in the 90 or 120 day period "they" figure out what "extreme vetting" is and get it done. I also expect, because Trump is a business man, that he will push for a change in immigration policy to focus on skills versus family. That will help get the economy going, one of Trump's stated goals.
