I believe Brian Meixner is a great player because of his musicality not dynamic range capabilities.
Yeah, guys, Brian can do more than just play loud. He can also play high. And fast. He's amazing.

I do not understand what you mean by "mix". I think you would enjoy Mr. Behrend's own unique sound! I did not care for it at first but it has grown own me! He has cds you can purchase at http://www.tapmusic.com I think he has three solo euphonium cds.

It has come to my attention to give ALL of Dr. Bowman's students our appreciation and thanks. We can most likely assume they will be the future ambassadors of our instrument. The same goes for all the other talented young euphoniumists out there.(please note I do not deserve to be in this catagory). :)

Deserving though BigDonEuph may be of our praise and adoration, maybe we should extend our appreciation and thanks to the current "ambassadors of our instrument."

Moreover, remember that Dr. Bowman's students have not been endowed with euphonium-related super powers. Please don't make them look like jerks by singling them out. Imagine if someone made the same kind of statement about any one tuba studio - all hell would break loose.

Let's say the worst case senario, we all know that one day all the "euphonium greats" are going die just like any other human being, if we did not have young fresh talent on the euphonium, the tradition of great euphonium playing would demenish and die. Does it hurt to express your appreciation of the world's up and coming euphonium greats? Do not make me out to be the bad guy by extending my thoughts of thanks. I will be darned if ANYONE thinks you guys are jerks.
Just my thoughts.

I agree after reading Jamie's post. It must be said I'm not hidding my disapoiment in Jamie. I expected her to be a little bit more mature. Although I still hold great respect for all of you.

Rich Matteson.

Tropman and Demondrae don't suck. Our guys are pretty good, too. Mark Jenkins just put "Auld Lang Syne" to the wall last Sunday. Left nothing but broken clarinetists in his wake. Solid.

I like myself

admittantly, my list of professionals to listen to is rather small.
I do like what I've heard of:
Steve Mead
Dave Werden

Sgt. Steve Cocks from the Air force band in Winnipeg is a dang good player.

Too many great players to list, but here are the artists that I have heard live that consistently make an individual artistic statement (for me, in my small opinion)

Thomas Ruedi
Jukka Myllys
Matt Murchison
Brian Bowman
Demondrae Thurman
Marc Dickman

There are many, many more whom I consider to be great euphonium players and for whom I have the utmost respect and would give one of my limbs to be able to play like. However, for me, these are the musicians that, when I hear them, I KNOW it's them. These people also make me not care at all about the euphonium when I hear them perform, which I personally believe is the ultimate goal.
