Thanks Steve. The manager of the hotel where the gig books were found just turned over surveillance tapes to the BPD. Hopefully we'll find something. No other news, unfortunately...jobey

It was suggested that this horn could be moved overseas. What countries would be likely choices? What forums (such as this one) exist where attention could be called to this issue?

Can tubists in Europe pass the word around as well?

How can Jobey notify Interpol or other such agency?

Thoughts?

When my trumpet was stolen I had set it down in the dorm lobby for just a moment to say "Hi" and got distracted by something on TV and walked off without it. Yes, I was young and foolish. Now I'm just not so young.

Events eventuate. Let's go from here and help him find it.

are that this instrument would be difficult to "fence" overseas. The other world communities tend to play at a pitch quite a bit higher that the US and it would probably need some extensive modifications to get this horn to play at that pitch center. So I would recommend that you keep a focus towards the "home ground" on this one.

This is not necessarily true, as many European orchestras double in symphony and opera functions.

The VPO is famous for its symphony functions, but formally it is a private sideshow run by the players. Some years ago it was lead by one of their percussionist. I think their current chairman is one of back desk 2nd violins.

Well, I just bought a new silver Gronitz PCK from Tuba Exchange....should get it when I return from visiting home (Oklahoma) for the holidays. I GREATLY apreciate everyone's support & concern over the past two months...been a pretty tough time for me. I'm still working hard on trying to track down the lacquer Gronitz...I do not want these guys getting away with their crime. Next week I'll receive surveillance tapes from the hotel where the gig books (stolen with the horn) showed up. Please keep your eyes open...the lacuer PCK's are quite rare, so please contact me if any of you should see one for sale. I am quite confident it will come up, though it may be months, even years. I am going to post my beloved Alexander CC for sale on the "For Sale" section once I can get pics up. Thanks again Sean & the Tubenet community...jobey

Anyone here remember the story about Ed Goldstein in Baltimore, MD? His Holton was stolen from his car and it became a pretty big media thing (newspapers, TV). The loser tried to sell it to a pawn shop and the shop guy had seen the TV about it. Needless to say, the dude got nabbed, the media caught wind of the bust on their scanners and went to the scene and Ed went to recover his tuba and played it to make sure it was OK. The End.

If anyone knows more about this story than what I can barely remember, fill us in. It was a great story.

Ed then gave an impromptu performance for the officer/officers who recovered his tuba. Not sure what station it was.
