Tchaikovsky #1 & Peer Gynt No. 1

Any thoughts on the tuba “FUN” factor of either/both of these two pieces (on a scale from 1-10):

Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite No. 1
Tchaikovsky Symphony #1

Peer Gynt 1 is a wonderful piece of music, but the tuba is tacet for the first three movements. You get to make some noise towards the end of the last movement (Mountain King) but it flies by and is over before you know it.

Fun factor: for listening; 10. for playing; 2.

You will have to sit for three movements before you play the last movement of Tchaikovsky 1.You should listen to the old BSO/Ozawa recording with Chester Schmitz if you want to hear something inspirational. It’s on Deutche Grammaphone.
