Harvey Phillips: former students & composers

Post by kathott »

Greetings. It is likely that Harvey Phillips is responsible for the largest body of tuba commissions by an individual player. This includes solos, extending to brass ensembles & tuba ensembles. I haven’t tabulated commissions by other high profile players, but I think Mr. Phillips was indeed a trailblazer.
Perhaps some of his former students here might recall some lesser known, or even unpublished, works (?)

Q. Is there a dependable list of his commissions for unaccompanied tuba/tuba & piano ?

Thank you,
K.

There may also be some insight in his biography, Mr. Tuba
