I'm in the process of cleaning out the garage, and found two boxes full of old 78 RPM records. They're bound in books, and include:
Prokofiev Peter and the Wolf - BSO/Koussevitzky
Strauss Waltzes - Bruno Walter/Felix Weingartner cond.
Tschaikowsky Sym. 6 - Berlin/Furtwängler
South Pacific - Mary Martin/Ezio Pinza
Brahms 2 - NBC Sym./Toscanini/Horowitz
Tschaikowsky ConcertoNo. 1 - Toscanini/Horowitz
Glazounow Violin Concerto in A Minor - Jascha Heifetz
Tschaikowsky Nutcracker - Philadelphia/Stokowski
Schubert 8 - BSO/Koussevitzky
Rachmaninoff Paino Concerto 2 - Philadelphia/Stokowski/Rachmaninoff
There are also a few other oddballs thrown in as well. Labels are things like "RCA Victor Red Seal Records", "Columbia Masterworks", etc. Condition, from 1 to 10, I'd put most of the sleeves around 7 or 8, the records themselves around 9 or 10.
My questions - what might they be worth, and where would I sell records like these? EBAY? Collector's groups?
Thanx in advance for your time...
...Dave

Re: Old 78 RPM records
Not a clue. Depends on the demand. I'd look for a pricing guide somwhere.poomshanka wrote:My questions - what might they be worth,
You wouldn't want t0 sell a $100 record for $5.
Ebay for the common, low priced ones. I'd check a collector on the more valuable items though.and where would I sell records like these? EBAY? Collector's groups?
This looks helpfull.

Try doing a search on a selected record, and then select "complete items" at the far left side of the screen (and down a bit). This will give you an idea of what these items have sold for in the recent past. Use a pretty generic search term, like "Peter and the Wolf record" - you can always sort through the results if you get too many. Best of luck selling!
