... and I know it. So what I'm suggesting (to my fellow posters this time, not to Sean) is just a humble request, with no pretense that I have any authority to actively censor anyone else, nor that I'm "better" than anyone else.
We often lament that there aren't more ladies who post here regularly; but recently the locker-room content -- crude jokes and images -- has risen to the point that I certainly wouldn't want MY wife or daughter hanging around, nor would they want to. Of course, the lines here are far from clear-cut, and we'll never achieve full agreement about just what is and is not appropriate; but I would suggest that each of us consider when posting whether the images and words we're posting would make this corner of the world inviting or alienating to ladies (not to mention what lessons they may teach the young men who frequent this place).
I'm not claiming to be a saint; It's just that there's a time and a place for everything, and I don't think this public forum is the place for extreme vulgarity. I've told my share of off-color jokes, including some in this forum that I probably shouldn't. I'll be cleaning up my own act, and respectfully request that others do likewise.

None of us are, but this sounds like a good idea (personal opinion, of course ... FWIW).Joe Baker wrote:I'm not claiming to be a saint ...

I apologize to anyone I may have offended in the rolling thread. I was trying to keep things clean, but if I went over any line, I'm sorry. It does seem that there are so many humorists here that perhaps a humor forum would help. I thought that perhaps Sean's advertizers would be happy with so many hits, thus more exposure for them. Again, I did not intend it to be off-color, and extend my regrets for my part in the proceedings.

A lot of us (myself definitely included) do that from time to time, but certainly not out of malice or intent to offend. It is easy to get "carried away" in pursuit of a laugh ...windshieldbug wrote:I was trying to keep things clean, but if I went over any line, I'm sorry.

Doc, the only thing vile about that picture is that it reminds me that no one around here knows how to make a decent chicken fried steak.Doc wrote:No more vile, lude pics, huh?
Well, TAKE THIS!

I hope everyone understands that my comments were not about what is and isn't 'vile'. I can enjoy the view or look the other way when a provocative picture comes up. This is not about me being the morality police; it's about asking everyone to consider how the things we post make this a "men only" forum. My concern is that the site was rapidly becoming a place that would be unwelcoming to a growing and important demographic within the low brass community. Notice that you haven't seen Ames, or even MA, much lately? I know I wouldn't show up at a forum that had a habit of showing nude or nearly-nude men (*blech*). Why would we expect them to keep coming around, with pictures of nude or nearly-nude women floating around? So I'm just asking everyone to consider how their actions would affect other people's desire to frequent this site.
I really think everyone understands that, BTW, and it seems like the response is overwhelmingly positive. Just goes to show,
