Edirol R-1 question

Post by Bove »

For those of you who have an Edirol R-1, how does the memory work? What kind of card is it, and is it removeable? I can't seem to figure this out by looking at the Edirol website.

It's a compact flash (but not Microdrive) card. I use one, I have 2 x 1gb cards (Kingston). Apparently you can get bigger compatible ones now, but 1gb is just enough for 1 half of a concert at WAV 24 bit!

These are excellent machines, far better and convenient than any other portable machine I've used. The internal stereo mics are excellent as well, much higher quality than I was expecting. In fact I've only ever used my AT822 mic with it once, it all seems too much of a hassle to set up now and the quality is just fine for normal (ie not audiophile) use.

another question:
How quickly can you switch from recording to playback and what is the process like? (how many button presses needed?) For example- while you are recording your practice sessions?

by the way... Thanks for your info!

With some research, I answered my own question... in case anyone is also interested.

2GB wav file on a compact flash card in an Edirol R-1 is about 2 hours and 8 minutes.
