Orange Bowl Sousaphones

Post by TubaRay »

Last night's Orange Bowl was the closest I have come to watching an entire football game this season. In addition to being an interesting game, did anyone notice the sousaphone playing? It sounded to me as if the sousaphone sections from both the Penn State & Florida State bands were really projecting well on the broadcast. And one of the bands(Penn State, I believe) had some kind of sousaphone feature which they played more than once.

Not being from either Pennsylvania or Florida, and not really that interested otherwise, I am not aware of these being part of their traditions. Regardless, though, I enjoyed getting to hear our brothers and sisters so prominently.

well, considering the Blue Band (PSU) has roughly 40 some tuba players, i would hope they would be heard. FSU had a similar number it looked like.
