I smoked for 12 years.

I gave up smoking about a year ago.

It was not easy. But it was easier then I thought it would be.

Today I dont even think about it any more.

I sleep better. I wake up better. I dont get tired so soon. I smell better, and so on and so on. Everything is better.

You can buy a tuba in a year or tow with the money you will not spend...

I will never smoke again.

I hope you wont either.

Good luck!

I quit a three-pack-a-day habit about ten years ago after smoking for 35 years. I would probably have serious health problems today had I not quit when I did. Doctors say my lungs have repaired any damage that may have been done. I'll be 60 in June... and I feel great! Now.... I gotta do something about this fat ***

To Seanyboy,
I smoked a pack and a half a day for 45 years. Quit in 2001.
I always told my self that I could quit when I felt diminished by tobacco but when I tried I couldn't. I tried again months later and failed again.
The five-way heart bypass occured before any heart attack and after 9 days in the hospital with heart and lung crews having at me it was bye bye cigarettes. One aspirin a day and a vitamin and I'm good to go.
Still blowin' tuba in a rock band at age 64. My lung capacity may only be 20% of yours but old people are crafty and I can still make 'em think I got some lungs. You can be real sneaky with your breathing and get away with it most times.

Stay off! I smoked for over 20 years, tried like hell to quit, couldn't, and it took a coma to straighten me out. All the best!!!

Not really proof of anything, but I had a cold coming on Friday and hit the stuff that evening and the next, and was rewarded with the shortest and smallest cold I've had in a long time. I noticed they offer a few different potions now, but we're talking about the original homeopathic cold remedy.

I'm trying to shake a cold with Zicam right now and it really helps ALOT! As for smoking, quitting will help your playing ALOT and it will definately make you healthier. It's hard to stop, but replace smoking with more tuba playing, and if you can't concentrate, replace it with caffiene or something less unhelthful...

Best of luck to you!

And for the flu, Sambucol works really well for me. Haven't had a cold to try the Zicam on yet; I've been hitting the Sambucol every time I feel a little off, and it has always reverted to normal within 24 hours.

If you get cold sores, try Monolaurin. Been out there a while but not well known. My doctor says it works as a prevntive when taken regularly. Beats the heck out of your mpc rim rubbing on a cold sore.

As far as I know, there are no direct references to smoking in the Bible, although incense burning is mentioned frequently. They didn't have tabacco at that time, and the use of cannabis can mostly be attributed to pagan practices. I very much doubt that Jesus or any of His apostles smoked anything, and most likely the old testament called ones didn't either. But one never really knows for sure.

James 4:17

"Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin."

1st Corinthians 6:19-20

"What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."

1st Corinthians 11:29

"For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body."

1st Corinthians 6:12

"All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any."

Isaiah 65:2

"I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts;"

Proverbs 9:6

"Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding."

1st Corinthians 10:31

"Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God."

I think the only thing around back then were those cheap Ceasar Sweets cigars to go with the Augustus Lite beer.

schlepporello wrote:I've never heard any Bible verses for or against tobacco use either. But this I do know. I was a 1-pack a day smoker and was well into the stages of "Smoker's Cough" when I decided it was time to quit. Do I miss it?

Yes, I thouroughly enjoyed a cigarrette after a good meal. But the benefits of not smoking far outweigh the pleasures of smoking that I once enjoyed.
I have never understood the concept of a cigarrette after a meal. Of course I have never been a smoker, having tried it once in my youth and deciding that it was the worst thing that I had ever put in my mouth. I like savoring the flavors of a meal after eating. I would think that smoking would replace any lingering tastes with that of tobacco, eliminating that pleasure. Oh well, to each their own.

That all depends on how you define the word "inhale"; as in: "I did not "inhale" with that woman!"

Actually, I believe it was the woman who did the inhaling. Or something like that.
