Re: B&M 5/4 CC for sale $4500
Not a flame but a question - how would venting the valves make the main slide pull any different - it is never under any kind of vacuum?panthertuba wrote:It has 4 pistons, and the valves have been vented to make the top facing tuning slide easy to pull.
I was actually the first owner of this horn and bought it from WWBW new (B stock) around 1990. Tom at The Music Shop in Boonton NJ added the amado water key, second valve pull ring (shaped to be able to use both the 1st, 2nd, and / or 4th slides at the same time) and put a stop on the main slide that may have since been removed. With all the pull options, a fifth valve was never missed.
I never used this particular horn too much as it was sized between my 621 and 190 and ultimately traded it back at WWBW towards my 1290 - which has also just changed owners.
This same B&M popped up on EBay a couple of years ago and its buyer took it to Dillon for some Matt Magic tweaking, and I think it was later sold on consignment through Dillon.
