hi all, i've been testing out some new valve oils to see which one i like the best. a lot of people have been telling me about an oil called La Tromba out of switzerland. they said it works like a charm but they play roters and im on pistons. i was wondering if someone w/ pistons has used it before and how it performed. thanks.

Hmmm... looks like one size fits all. Works on everything! .... most of the testimony is from trumpet players. What do they know, anyway? .... 'cept louder and higher

Roche-Thomas comes in a 16 oz bottle for about the same price as the more esoteric brands 1- or 2-ounce bottle, lasts forever, and is almost tasteless and odorless. AND works better than most, and as good as the really esoteric brands, save for probably snake oil with teflon. Since it is not synthetic, you have less worry about gunk building up.

Re: valve oil
I used this product on boith pistons and rotors for a long time, and preferred it to all other brands. So with that, I can add personal experience in saying it performed very well. However, a few years back I discovered the Hetman products, and doubt I will switch away from them for a very long time.tuckertuba88 wrote:hi all, i've been testing out some new valve oils to see which one i like the best. a lot of people have been telling me about an oil called La Tromba out of switzerland. they said it works like a charm but they play roters and im on pistons. i was wondering if someone w/ pistons has used it before and how it performed. thanks.

Hetmans forever!
I doubt I will leave the fold either. Got started with Hydro-Slide for my Bass Bone slide and graduated to #7 for tuning slides, #12 for rotors and #14 for linkage and bearings. Thank you Lee Stofer! This stuff is amazing!
