Dillon Mouthpieces?

Hey all, I was browsing the Dillon site today and could not find their mouthpieces anywhere. Not the mouthpiece section but the Dillon brand mouthpieces the Dillon/Sheridan O2 in particular. Does anyone know that the deal is? Or could I just be blind? Any help would be great.

I had the same problem, I emailed the director of sales, available on their "Contact" link on their website, he hooked me up, so try him.

OK everyone... here is the scoop as of now:

Yes, Warburton had been making our mouthpieces for us
Yes, When his shop burned down our supply was cut off and we have since been slowly running out of several models

Due to this event we began rethinking the whole mouthpiece idea and we have decided to revamp the entire line before sending anything back into production. We will be keeping several old favorites as well as comming up with some new designs.
I do not have a time frame yet, but I can tell you I am working on it.

We do have several of the models left so if you are looking for something please let me know : Jason@dillonmusic.com , and I will be happy to accomodate you best I can.

Descriptive information really helps with a small volume mail order mouthpiece, in my opinion, and in my opinion descriptions like "dark tone of enormous volume" help the least. Marcinkiewicz and Mike Finn are a couple of good examples who set out a lot of solid information for the prospective purchaser. I'm way behind on my mouthpiece of the month program, so I'll be keeping an eye on your site.

My first Dillon mouthpiece just came in the mail this evening, an F1 B from a fellow Tubenetter. Used, but you could hardly tell, looks very sharp.

B apparently stands for Bronze, but it's silver plated so I guess you'd never know or have any reason to care. The first thing I noticed was that it's heavy. It has a classic rounded outer profile, but a shallow cup, so there's a lot of metal. The rim is more rounded than any of my other mouthpieces, but has a sharp inner edge.

Width is 33mm, 1.3 inches, but doesn't feel quite that big - maybe my measurement technique is off. Depth is quite shallow for that width, shallower than a Marcinkiewicz H4. Funnel cup. Didn't try to measure the bore, but to the eye it looks similar to my Conn 2, not a big bore. Nominally an F/Eb mouthpiece, it's fairly wide for that but shallow.

I'm posting all this information because this is a great mouthpiece! It has a delightfully velvety full tuba sound, and it's easy to play. I have been using a Marcinkiewicz H4, which has a noticeably bigger bore and takes a more concentration to play. I think a more advanced player might hardly notice or might even benefit from that - even at my modest level, the H4 and H3 have some attraction. But for me the F1 is easier to play fast on. And my thumb gauge says the H4 is a bit less of a pure funnel shape, and its sound is a tiny bit harder. I have a handful of other mouthpieces, but none of them come close at all.

I don't know if Dillon has any in stock, probably not. Maybe if they get a flood of inquiries, they'll bring it back!
