Hey Tuck,

Best wishes to you & your family on your move to Houston. Have fun in all that humidity! Let us know when you hook up with a band down there, 'cause I know you don't want that pretty King collecting dust. Check this web site & maybe you can find a band:

Take care.

I think you'll enjoy living in Houston. It is much less pretentious than Dallas, and much easier going.

But you will probably find that the music scene doesn't offer quite as many opportunities. Houston's culture is like Fort Worth's, built-in rather than pasted-on. Sometimes you have to dig deeper to find it, but when you do, it can be more organic.

Congrats on the new job!

I am currently studying with Mr. Wolfe. I have really enjoyed it and also feel that I am making great progress.

Gotta love that tuba he playes on: Image

I was lucky enough to play on it even...sweet sounding!

Again, Welcome to Houston. I just moved here last year and find it a great town. PM me and we'll get together.

Dave Kuehn (tuba pioneer from way back...) used to say he was allergic to alcohol: a couple of drinks would make him all woozy, and any more would make him fall down.

Nice to hear about Mark Wolfe; we were students together about a thousand years ago.

DFW resources?

Sorry to hear you're leaving the area - please let me have the contact info for your teacher.

Also, I'd like to pick your brains about community bands in the area - can I call you sometime? Or my cell number is 214-562-5057.

I'm actually pretty close to you - moved to SW Lewisville a year ago. I've been a tacit tubist for a few years now, but am trying to climb back to mere incompetence!

My only horn is a huge old 3v Martin, but I'd be interested in trading for something large but more modern - let me know if you happen to know of anyone in the area who's interested in a swapping for a beautiful huge antique (1919, silver, pretty good sound but it's only .727" bore.).

Best regards,

to patentnonsense -

I play in the Southlake Community Band

http://www.southlakeband.com/

Also, there are bands in Arlington, Irving, & Carrollton if you want to stay on the west side of the metroplex.

Brag, brag, brag! :D
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?
