I knew Lee when I was doing the Disney summer gig several (gulp) decades ago. His 4-beat walking style was absolutely beyond compare-- almost indistinguishable from a great string bassist.

I'd also heard he'd passed awhle back, though.

Lee Richardson was a giant of a man and a fabulous tuba player. He played at Disney for a number of years, most of it with the Pearly Band. He made more music on a fiberglass sousaphone than most people make on a $15,000 wonderhorn. His trad playing was legendary, but people don't realize Lee was just a damn good tuba player. He died of cancer a few years back. Buy every recording you can find with him on it. Try Arbor Records. A great man, he is missed.
