I bought my ex-wife the LP soundtrack to the London version of the musical when it came out--I believe this was one of the last first line records to be sold (days before the whole world went CD). Anyway, the record jacket listed the personnel of the orchestra. Like Mary Ann said, it was a small orchestra. Hardly any brass at all. You know, you can buy the sheet music and write your own tuba part to play along with the recording!

However, there is a brass band arrangement that definitely does have tuba parts. We played it (I got to do the Screeeaaaamm...!!!!) and it was a lot of fun. Apparently my screaming apparatus works well, because some poor 10 year old kid in the audience got really upset, thinking some woman was in trouble somewhere close by.
