Count me as one of the 1%--having not only seen the movie but played the part of one of the mad scientists (type casting) in a 70's production in Tucson. While the music is not up to the top tier of B'way musicals, with the right director it can be a lot of fun, as the recent revival at the famous Goodspeed Opera House proved. (The actor playing the government villain in that show had more than a spitting resemblance to a certain vice president, firearm and all!). Alas, no tuba (but a bass trombone) in the pit.

Oooh, me too!

I have seen the movie version as well as several regional live productions. When my wife and I were first married (and poor - med school, first year teacher) we would rent a musical movie VHS tape and watch it Friday night until she fell asleep on the couch and then finish it Saturday or Sunday, depending on gigs. We have seen, probably, all the available musical movies there are.

Yup, me, too. I served as "Student Music Director" in 7th grade for our junior high school production of "L'il Abner."

The song, "The Country's in the Very Best of Hands" still rings mighty true...
