Auction for a Mirafone 186 suspended on Ebay

Post by drewfus »

The item number was 220146952228. I had bid on it for giggles, never really expecting to win a new looking 186 for $1000. Ebay sent me an email today telling me they had suspended the account of the seller for an undisclosed reason. Interesting to say the least. Tuba fraud?

Make you wonder whether any of these chumps ever get away with anything. I smelled something wrong with a couple of these auctions, and never came close to paying a dime.

Anyway, this thread now probably qualifies as a "scandal" post, so enough is enough. Word to the wise: read up on your EBay security tips on how to recognize a fraudulent seller. Preferably, before you pay anything. If nothing else, send the seller an email before you send payment. The reply you receive (or not!) will often tell you what you need to know.

No, technically that's what's known as "Tuba Deception".

"Tuba Fraud" is when a joker like myself performs... :P
