It's good to know you were willing to suffer in the cause of good music.BGII wrote: Anyway, it was fun - lots of great looking gals around too.

Fantastic! I always prefer beer and sauerbraten to hippies and hashish! No mojo, I'm afraid it really did look more like this - including our own perfomances of "Sierra Madre Del Sol" (it comes up later on this Youtube excerpt).

Which beer tents did you check out? In my experience, most of the tents have a proper Blaskapelle with a tuba and lots of oval tenorhorns, at least during the day. The more fashionable tents tend to substitute these with an electric bass guitar and saxophones in the evening, but the traditional ones (e.g. Augustiner, Hacker) keep the same setup.Steve Inman wrote:Well ....

I **WAS** disappointed to note that the beer tent bands did NOT have any tubas (in the tents that I peeked into).

On the second day of Octoberfest this year the tuba player in the Paulaner tent was very good and played a number of solos with the Kapelle, including at least two rounds of Klarinettenpolka (I must admit that my memory and attention started suffering a bit after my sixth Maßkrug).
