Gnagey C - Now not for sale...

Post by Peach »

With apologies to anyone interested this tuba is now off the market.

NOT for sale is this Gnagey York/King C.

Bell is a York & Sons 19.5" - has that fabulous York tone.
Body & valveset from a King Bb cut to C.

This tuba is great - I'm only selling 'cos I'm in a financial mess and selling off a bunch of stuff I'd love to keep...

Response is quick and speaks very easy - these horns have a .687 bore but blow extremely free - doesn't back-up on you at all. Low register very open and easy.

Intonation is very good - I don't have any trouble playing this tuba in tune.

Mr Gnagey's creations seem to be very consistent and he told me "...I do believe that it's one of our best efforts....."

Excellent condition - not factory-condition but dent-free and valves have good compression.

No case (I need the gig bag I use for it).

*Tuba is in England*
Will ship anywhere.

Price $5500 - Shipping at cost.
Will also consider swaps for Large Yacht or Mayfair Apartment.

More pics follow...

More pics - the horn now has a patina on the raw brass which I like but you could easy keep it polished-up like the shot in the 1st post.

That's it; no more photos so don't ask.

And before anyone asks, no, my shoe/foot/ankle/trousers are NOT for sale (unless it's a real good offer).

I have a rubber band attached to the 5th lever to speed-up the action. It works without but I like it that way.

The gig bag is a leather Cronkhite which isn't included in the sale. Sorry.

PM or post questions here.

Good observation skills!

Yeah I turned down the King valve tops with a view to making large diameter fingerbuttons.
Looks like I never got around to that...
