Cheetham's "Allusions"

Post by ScotGJ »

I was looking through BVD's list of quintet literature and saw this piece listed and I am not familiar with it. Our quintet has enjoyed playing Cheetham's well known "Scherzo" and just performed "Brass Menagerie", so I am wondering what this other piece is like.

If you have played it, can you give some comparison comments to the other two pieces?

Thanks

I've played Allusions quite a bit and have always liked it very much. Unlike the Scherzo, which is a relatively short piece, it is a "full length" work. Like most of Cheetham's music it has the potential to appeal to a broad audience.

Amongst aviators it is often said that any landing you can walk away from is a good landing. It's an even better landing when you can reuse the airplane.
