Suite from The Reivers by John Williams

Post by Mark »

After reading another post that mentioned this work, I listened to it and I liked it a lot. Does anyone know if the sheet music, for orchestra, is available for purchase or rental?

I heard the suite in concert by the LSO conducted by John Williams himself which also included the Tuba Concerto. I actually enjoyed the tuba part in The Reivers more

Sorry, can't help with your query.

It's hard enough to see the movie --- it's never shown on TV here in the States. A pity. Some really good performances, especially by Will Geer, and a wonderful score.

The Reivers part is a belter isn't it ? I actually played in that concert with the LSO that night with Patrick Harrild playing the concerto out front. He sounded great but the audience were a bit restless as most of them just wanted to hear the Star Wars & popular stuff ! I didn't know there was a big solo in the Reivers when I turned up for the first rehearsal - boy was I in for a surprise !! I don't know where you can get the part from but there is a wonderful recording of Chester Schmitz playing it with John Williams & the Boston Pops.
