Re: Buying a c Tuba help
These are very good suggestions. However, there plenty of manufacturers in Europe too. The Hirsbrunner facotry is in Sumiswald, Switzerland. Meinl Weston is in Geretsried, Germany, and Miraphone is located in Waldkraiburg, Germany.wchoc86 wrote:well, in america you could travel to the mid-atlanticish area and check out dillion's, baltimore brass, and the tuba exchange (maybe, that's a little farther) or the midwest and hit up Woodwind and Brasswind, The Tuba Dome, and Custom Music.
The deciding factor really is what tuba you are "planning" to buy and how much you are willing to spend. These are all very big and expensive tuba brands, so your price range will also affect the place that you decide to go. Most of the tubas that you will look at have been made in Europe, so it might be worth your while to go straight to the source. (Especially since you are not too far away!)

Re: Buying a c Tuba help
mr. tuba in the United Kingdom stocks a very nice selection of tubas from different manufacturers. He has a website, just google for "mr tuba".
But, while the US dollar is so low compared to the Euro (and the british pound), it may be a better option to shop for an American made horn in the US.

you should make your way to europe and look at any of the major german tuba factories (mw, hirsbrunner, mira, rudy, etc..)
you may want to keep an eye out on the for sale forum also. i've seen quite a few nice Alex's, PT's and MW's up for reasonable prices. good luck!!

Re: Buying a c Tuba help
I'm mainly looking for a used horn in a great condition, a ContraBass CC Tuba, to buy probably in the states because of the $ price now, the diffrence between buying a Great shape Hirsbrunner and a New Hirsbrunner in europe for an example is couple of thousands of $, any thoughts about a nirchl or a MW 2000?
