King on the Baltimore Brass
On the Baltimore Brass website, there is a King CC tuba listed. I'm guessing it's a small 3/4 horn, but there is no model; it just says kingtu. I've never seen a King CC like this, is it from the H.N. White days? or is it a custom cut horn?

Looks like a cut Eb to me.Judging by the price,it's probably marginal.Of course it could just be underestimated and a deal.Proof's in the playing...

Re: King on the Baltimore Brass
I built it. It's an "early Work" of mine.
It's a real nice little compact CC, I think. I did sell it when I wanted to move to a Miraphone 184 5v. I didn't feel like buying another rotor for it, and sold it to someone in Cincinnati who wanted a smaller instrument.
If you're looking for a nice little quintet horn, give it a try... It's certainly a steal, since I rarely pay much attention to cosmetics for my own instruments. "The shoemakers kids go barefoot", as they say...

Yes - The valves are from the original 3 valve set, and a second valve from a king BBb Sousaphone.
Tuba Tinker has a great description of doing this on his website: http://www.thevillagetinker.com/pan_ame ... ersion.htm" target="_blank
The only tricky part is getting the tubing and ferule hot enough to accept the solder - the heat bleads away to the rest of the valve casing, keeping the soldering area a little to cool...

Re: King on the Baltimore Brass
How hard would it be to revert this horn back to Eb?
Also, what is the bell diameter?
Thanks,
Sam Funkhouser

Re: King on the Baltimore Brass
I don't remember the specific bell diameter. It would be very easy to return it to Eb, and it was a nice Eb. It was a bit flat, both in the overall length and the individual valve tubes. But you could do it with ease. Guessing on the bell, I'd say around 16 inches...
