Here is the Denis Wick tenor horn mouthpiece webpage.

Altoniums (as King and Olds called them, as they look like American concert band hybrid baritone horns, but smaller, usually with front bells and front valves) or tenor horns (as they are called in brass bands, with upright bells and upright valves) do have their own proprietary receiver and cup range.

Alto horns use alto horn mouthpieces. Not kidding. As you might guess, there isn't a huge variety from which to choose. I have Bach 3, 5, and 6 for this horn

A while back, before I started doing tuba half-way seriously, I could play the alto horn reasonably well.

I've heard that some alto horns could be played with a cornet mouthpiece. That doesn't work in any of ours, the shank is way too small, but it might be true for the `mellophone', which commonly does take a smaller shank than the normal alto.

Dudley Fosdick played a fairly mean jazz mellophone, back in the late '20s/early '30s. It fit in pretty well with the kind of sweet style popular back then, as did Trumbauer's C melody sax and Beiderbeck's cornet. I believe I've seen a photo where his instrument has a trumpet like configuration, bell forward and valves up.
