A cool find!

Post by theanalogkid »

So in the process of moving offices, my band director found this cassette tape from 1982 of Roger Bobo performing at Southwestern Oklahoma State University (I believe I got the date and place right, the tape is not with me right now). For a tape, it sounds pretty darn good!! I would like to able to share this with you guys, just for interest sake and to maybe help me figure out a few tunes I don't know. I wanted to see if that's a legal thing to do

Thanks guys!

nothing legal at all about it. If Roger didn't give permission for the copy of the tape to be made, it's illegal. If he did, you still can't make a copy, put it on line, or do anything else with it, within legal parameters. It's his performance of copyrighted music, so all rights are held elsewhere. Possibly, even the source of the recording has some rights to it.

Now, if you had merely sent a PM to a couple people and said "hey, I got this tape, want a copy, help me figure out what these tunes are" no one would have been the wiser. Doesn't lessen the legal implications of copying the tape, but no one would have known.

If you can get Roger's permission, you can do whatever he says you can. I wouldn't bet on it.

By the way, you need another O
