MM Tuba TU2000

Post by bigboymusic »

Ok, I know I can use the search engine here, but it keeps shooting me down, soooo. Does anyone have experience with the ne MM TU2000 4 piston B flat? I know some of the Chinese made horns are getting better and better, but most I have played have been rotary models.

I was impressed with the one of those horns I had my hands on a while back. But... don't take my word for it. Like any other manufacturer... there are going to be mediocre ones, good ones, and maybe a few great ones. The best advice I can give anyone anticipating buying ANY horn is go try one for yourself... or at least make certain the seller has an outstanding return policy.

As far as the Chinese getting better and their fits, tolerances, and cleanliness goes... yes, it's happening. Some of these horns represent much bang for the buck as compared to the expensive European options. As far as the finish goes????... well.... the Chinese still have a long ways to go. You can expect the lacquer to last maybe two years tops.... but, then again... the lacquer doesn't do much for how a horn plays now, does it?!
