Memory of a strange tale (tail?)

Many years ago, my friend cobbled together, a small pipe organ, using 4' diapason and 8' flute ranks, which were connected to an old Wurlitzer reed organ console. Everything was OK (the voices should have been an 8' diapason and 4' flute), but when he wired the whole thing; everything was an octave high (novice mistake, obviously). The fun part was that the lower 4 pipes from the 8' rank were too large to go into the room, so they were layed horizontally in a 'shotgun rack' style. After you turned on the instrument, you had to do one thing; step on the lowest pedal 'c,' to clear the cat out of the pipe. It was a real riot, the first time I experienced it. You would have thought the cat would learn, but NO. He also, seemed to enjoy the 'toccata' from the 'Widor' 5th Symphony. He would watch the hands flying over the keys and start to chase them. Needless to say; the music room eventually became off limits to animals (other than myself).

Moral: always check your pipes, tubas or euphoniums (euphonia?) - in the case of kittens; before playing!
