The Shepherd School of Music (Rice University, Houston) announces auditions for Fall 2009 vacancies. Auditions for admission will be heard through mid-February 2009. A completed application must be filed before auditions may be scheduled.

Live auditions are required for admission. Recordings may be sent to determine if the travel expense of playing a live audition is warranted. Candidates should have competitive academic qualifications.

While both undergraduate and graduate candidates will be heard, offers of admission will not necessarily be made to those who play the best auditions. Potential, innate musicality, and resourcefulness are qualities considered alongside the players’ level of achievement.

This is an opportunity to study at one of the nation’s finest conservatories, located within a premier private university. Houston is a dynamic city possessing a vibrant arts community.
