First Tubachristmas in a while...and it was great!

I was a regular at Tubachristmas in Atlanta between 97-2003, but going to college a few states away changes things...

I got to go to my first Tubachristmas since then this past Saturday in Fredericksburg, VA and it was a blast! Those large print books are freaking great! About time! The little books are great on sousaphone, but they suck if you have to put it on a stand. Anyone know where you can buy extras throughout the year?

Also, are there any good recordings of Tubachristmas out there?

Glad to see you made a Tuba Christmas! Ours is coming up on Christmas Eve. (I missed our local Tuba Carol Christmas due to a vacation, and am looking forward to this one.) And yes, the big music is great!

Well, at least he's a contender. My son stopped at 6' 3". He's not even close. Wayne dwarfs me. At 6', I'm not even a pretender.

It'd be awesome to record Atlanta or New York (or one of the other big ones) with decent gear. I know some folks press a little too hard on the volume for some peoples tastes... and you've got not-so-much experienced players... and I'm sure that quartet is freaking glorious, but (especially Jingle Bells!) you just can't beat large groups playing that stuff!

We had mostly kids at ours! Great to see! I know for tons of 6th and 7th graders, this is the first really cool thing they ever get to do on tuba/euph. If I was a band director and having trouble getting folks to play low brass, I'd take em on a field trip to my local Tubachristmas...
