Hey Tubenet,
Kyosuke Nakata, a graduate student at the University of Northern Iowa, had his tuba stolen from his vehicle last Saturday in Cedar Falls. This instrument was a
HB-21 which he bought years ago from Custom Music. Unfortunately, Suke is unable to find serial numbers for his tuba, but we hope to have pictures in the next few days. It will be hard to track down this valuable instrument. I hope the tuba community will be on alert for any suspicious sales of this model tuba. Please feel free to PM me if you hear anything, and I will make sure Suke gets the word.
Thank you,
Ben Creswell

That is not a good thing to hear... we'll keep our eyes open over here in Dubuque.
Suke should call Jeff Rideout @ CMC and ask him to look up the reciept, I know they keep records for quite a long time.

From an email sent by Suke today:
Hi everyone!
I do have a great news for you all.
Yesterday after UNITUBA, around 3pm, the Cedar Falls Police called me, and he said he has my tuba at his office. So, I picked it up around 3:30pm. The officer told me that the thief came back to the LUKE's MUSIC STORE in downtown waterloo last weekend try to sell my HB-21 again. The owner of the shop called the Cedar Falls police immediately, and it came back to me. I have been really happy for my tuba return since last evening. Now, my Hirsbrunner sits in Grady Instrumental Service. There was a evidence that the thief dropped it and got more dents plus two pistons does not move smoothly, may be somehow they twisted.
Many thanks to all of you who was worrying about my tuba. I was really lucky that the thief was lower class living young man who was not able to go out town and sell the tuba.
Again, thank you so much to everybody!!!
Have a great day!!!
Suke Nakata
In case you didn't catch it from the email, the thief took it to Luke's twice trying to sell the horn. Also, they apparently polished the tuba, which Suke hadn't done in years. I guess they must have thought it would help the horn sell. I don't think the thief was very bright.

So is the guy in custody? Can we arrange for a TubeNet group beat down?

Tell Suke that Josh (formerly at U of Iowa) says hi and congratulations on the recovery!
