There was a discussion a couple of weeks about about a slide that can be used to convert a Miraphone 184 CC tuba to a BBb tuba. Here's a glimpse of something I threw together this afternoon about two hours before a gig.

The horn played fine except for a sharp C below the staff.... easily corrected by using the 4th valve and extending the 4th tuning slide about an inch. How many guys have the nerve to modify a horn a couple of hours before a gig? Crazy?... maybe... but at least it was easier that learning yet another set of fingerings!

Re: Miraphone CC to BBb Conversion Slide
This looks much like the conversion slide that came with my first tuba, a used Miraphone 185 that I purchased back in 1983. Great horn that I wish I still had! The conversion slide was helpful as I made the transition from BBb to CC.TubaTinker wrote:There was a discussion a couple of weeks about about a slide that can be used to convert a Miraphone 184 CC tuba to a BBb tuba. Yep. I'm not in a big hurry to sell it with this new revelation. I think I may just 'tinker' with it for a while. I have a big German BBb rotary (B & S stencil) that I really like but this 3/4 Mirafone might be just the ticket for those 'quiet indoor gigs'. You know... the ones where they aren't drinking so much!Doc wrote:Dan,
Is this the one for sale on your website?
