I am fortunate to have a great job that feeds my family well, but music feeds my soul.

I saw that a few weeks ago. Too bad I just spent a load on a tuba....tbn.al wrote:Someone was looking for one of these a while back. This one appears to have been placed in the Euph pages by error. Might go cheap.

The seller compares the Martin to a 20J. From talk by the TNFJ, this Martin is supposed to be much superior to the Conns if this is the type and style of horn you are looking for.
Ah, the big, lush bottom of a concert band...

Re: Old Martin
A guy in our band has a 4 valve version of one of these. (not sure if his is a Conn or Martin) What a beast, but yeah it honks out the low stuff like a champ. Quite stuffy on the high notes, say from the middle of the staff and up, but not much band music goes up there anyway.
Someone may just want to bid on it just to have big boy like this around.
P.S. I actually MARCHED with one of these behemoths in HS, and you thought those King Sousys are hard to carry, WOOF!

Re: Old Martin
Some of those dents in the smaller bows actually look pretty serious. I wonder how much better the response / intonation would be if they were removed? The tuba has it's share of lacquer wear and dents.. Picture shows the worst ones. Nothing that would affect the playability of the horn.

Re: Old Martin
I kept my eye on this one just for fun, high bid was $560, but it didn't meet the sellers reserve price.
