Euphonium mpc shank size...

Dennis Wick mpc's have an 'M' for the medium shanks, and anything that dosen't have the 'M' is the small shank..? How do you know which euph mpc's (in general) are the large (bass trombone) size?

Since the DEG/Willson (Bowman) mpc's are made with the 2900's and 2950's in mind, is it logical to think that they should be the right size, or do I have to hunt for the right shank size?

Aside from the DW euph models with an M, an S, or a Y suffix they are large. SM doesn’t tell the size, but that the designer is Steven Mead.

The Brian Bowman series (typically BB1) come in all three shank sizes. You must specify. For a smaller horn like one of my old Conns, a Yamaha 321, or an English baritone, you need small (tenor) shank. For the Willson 2900, you need medium shank. For the Willson 2950 and all other new professional euphoniums you need bass trombone (large) shank. Most BB1's offered on eBay tend to be medium shank, but occasionally you will see a BB1 BT or a BB1 tenor shank.

For the Willson 2900, you need medium shank.

Unless it's a 2900BT (Bass Trombone = large shank), which is the standard model outside North America and have FINALLY started to become available in the US.
