Brasso Profundo is one of several New Horizons chamber ensembles that enjoys performing throughout the Rochester area and for Eastman Community Music School events. The ensemble, founded in 1998 by Charles (Chick) Wolfe, who serves as manager and librarian, performed a recital at Valley Manor in October, 2008. In November, the ensemble was featured during the Tuba Christmas event held in Canandaigua as part of that city's annual Holiday ArtWalk, and the ensemble performed for the ECMS Homecoming in December. Brasso Profundo's spring recital will be May 21st at 7:30 p.m. in Kilbourn Hall, and in April, they will be presenting another concert in the community.

The New Horizons Program began in 1991 at the Eastman School of Music under the guidance of Roy Ernst, now Professor Emeritus from that school. Since that time, the idea has been adopted throughout the U. S. and in Canada by more than 100 organizations. While New Horizons was designed in particular for seniors, there is no minimum or maximum age or ability requirement. Beginners are welcome. The Rochester-based program offers several large ensembles, each rehearsing weekly at the First Unitarian Church at 220 Winton Road. These include three bands, two orchestras, a mixed chorus, and a Big Band. In addition, many chamber music ensembles, including Brasso Profundo, meet weekly.
