Where are former posters?

Post by Peach »

I'm sure this has been covered before but where did Scooby, Doc and Chuck(G) go??
If anyone knows could they bring me up-to-speed via PM?
I miss their posts...
Thanks!

I know Chuck G is alive and well in Eugene, but I haven't seen him on here in over a year

I see evidence of Chuck on the mail list from time to time. His last period of major activity was during the short-lived political forum. His comment at the time (paraphrasing), there's only so much you can say about a tuba, but politics have no solution and therefore no end to the discussion. That politics forum was the only reason his post count got so high--he'd already started to slack off even then.

Priorities change.

I remember Chuck (G) and was hesitant to ask this question before knowing he was alive:

Was there a another poster named Chuck who passed away just a little while ago?

The good Chuck England is no longer with us. I believe that this is the person to whom you refer. I really liked the man and wish that I had been afforded the chance to meet him. He was a very nice person who wrote me a few very long PMs and emails over the years. I was very surprised that he had passed away.
Yes, that is the Chuck I was thinking of. He sent me a few nice PMs when I was first learning to play. Good information that I value.
Another formerly active member passed away - "Harold" was his screen name. It is a little odd to search the archives and see threads in which both of them and I have posted, knowing that I can bump the topic by quoting one of them, but that there will never be a reply to the bump. Life is funny. When this place started up in 1996, I am sure that Sean never anticipated that users would pass on and that their posts would still be here and that anyone could stumble along and bump one with a question, only to be told by some of us that "that poster passed away." How weird. Poor guys.
"Harold"/Shawn was given quite the musical sendoff by his band. I received an invitation to have a beer and lunch with Shawn a few months before his demise but was not able take him up on it. From what my friends who knew him well tell me about him, it was a real loss.

Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

Four posters??? What, of the apocalypse?
They look sort of wooden to me... not as scary as I expected.
Somehow, I never envisioned the Four Postmen of the Apocalypse as being scary... :D
