Why is it important to commission new works for tuba

Hello all, I am doing a summer project at IUP and my topic is on why it is crucial that we as tuba players find people to write new music for our instrument, given that we have not had as long of a time period with solo literature written specifically for the tuba.

I am trying to find some resources about tuba commissioning and some general resources that would umbrella this topic. If anyone has any ideas, they would be greatly appreciated.
