Hirsbrunner valve sets

Post by Mitch »

Sorry if this has been covered, but a search didn't turn up any reliable results...

Does anyone know who's making piston valve sets for Hirsbrunner these days?

Thanks for the obvious.

I've tried that, which is why I posted here. The last word from Peter was only that their sets were outsourced. No maker's name was shared. Just thought someone here might have found out some other way.

Anyone?

goodgigs,

No sweat. I once had perhaps arguably the finest HB-2P known to mankind. Okay, well, I know, but every 4/4 Hirsbrunner owner I knew who ever tried mine at some point said, "Wanna trade?" Loved that horn, but sold it to a good home because the after effects of an accident left me thinking I'd never play again. Miss it every day.

The valves on it were great. Super fast, never had a problem with them. I now own an older horn that has worn-out valves, and I'd rather replace the whole thing than invest in replating what I've got. I know I could get MW valves more easily, but I've got a short pinky and the Hirsbrunner configuration fits my hand far better. The last time I wrote to Peter, he said he didn't have any sets he could part with, as he got just enough from his supplier. (Same thing from Gronitz, actually.) Each time I've asked, "So who's your supplier?," I haven't received a reply. Hence the tubenet search.

Brian, I'll let you know what I find out.

Truth be told, I'd like to get the valve set off the W Nirschl J-700, but the latest word is that it wouldn't be until late 2010 at the earliest. :( (I've decided to leave the horn in BBb after a wonderful orchestral experience with it, so that would be easier than having someone rework a CC set. And cheaper.)
