Conn Styriaton International CC tuba 4+1RV

Post by imperialbari »

I haven’t hunted tubas seriously for a long time for lack of space. However a friend likes one of my less common tubas, so I have started looking again. On a Dutch site I found a Conn Styriaton International CC tuba 4+1RV to be sold by a German alleged masterworkshop specialicing in instruments from the lower end of the market. I am kind of suspicious, maybe without reason.

What is the length of the 5th valve loop? To me it looks like a long semitone.

That fifth valve lever looks like the ones on some Cerveny's...almost like a switch. :)

Looks exactly like a Cerveny. Cerveny even uses the flat half step fifth valve operated by the left thumb.

At the risk of violating the posting rules, I must say the blacksheep link is the funniest thing I have seen in a while. It should be a sticky.

I have to say that looks identical to my Cerveny ACB681 including the tightly-wrapped 1st valve tubing and the long half step 5th valve operated by the left thumb. I can't see anything on that horn that is different except the name. . .
