Christmas Brass Ensemble Music

Post by Michael Roest »

Hello,

I am looking for Christmas music that has been orchestrated/arranged for brass ensemble (not brass quintet) and am having trouble finding some decent pieces. Does anyone out there have some suggestions?

Thanks!!

The old chestnuts are the three books arranged by Sammy Nesitco. These are 60's contemporary renditions of many of the standard carols. Very unique harmonizations. Written for 2 trumpets, F horn, 2 bones, euph, tuba and optional percussion (bells)

These are all fairly short arrangments, once or twice through the carol but you can put a few together to make a medley of sorts.

Also there is the Caroler's Favorite set by the Salvation Army. 4 parts with an optional 5th part that works very well played by a euphonium. The 4 parts are written out in various instrumentation for a flexible instrumentation. you can pretty much use them with almost any group of instruemnts you might have.

I woudl believe there are some of the old Philip Jones brass ensemble arrangements available. Excellent arrangements! Look for "Just Brass" arrangements by Iveson or Howarth.

I know there is a large brass arrangement of Christmas jazz Suite by Holcombe.
