Hi, I am playing with a local orchestra the following lit... I haven't seen the music and there is a dress rehearsal tonight and concert tomorrow. I am not familar with the lit, and thought maybe some of you guys could help out with horn selection. I am mainly worried about the Stravinsky, it supposedly has an exposed tuba part. I've done some internet searching, but havne't found too much. Any thoughts would be great!
Grieg, In Autumn, Opus 11 3222-4231-tmp+3-str
Stravinsky, Suite No. 1 for Small Orchestra 2122-1111-1perc-str
Cowell, Hymn and Fuguing Tune No. 3 2222-4221-tmp+2-str
Beethoven, Dance No. 12 from Twelve German Dances 3222-2222-tmp+3-str(no vlas)
Sibelius, Finlandia 2222-4331-tmp+1-str
Thanks!
Anyone know this lit?

Re: Anyone know this lit?
Are you sure about the instrumentation you posted?
There shouldn't be tuba (let alone 2 tubas as you have listed) on Beethoven's German Dances.
Are you doing something special or some unusual arrangement?

No idea, this is what was emailed to me. Thats the main reason I was asking... I know a good deal of orchestral lit, especially the standards... some of this seemed quite odd to me. I honestly didn't look at it that closely, but now that you mention it I would surely hope that is a mistake. I am mainly wondering about the Stravinsky.

Re: Anyone know this lit?
It's Stravinsky's 2nd Suite that has the exposed "solo" part, the 1st Suite is very easy to do on your PCM.
The PCM is also the best choice for Finlandia (IMHO), I don't know the Cowell or the Grieg.
Have fun!
